Syfy Picks Up Fourth Season of Merlin

TV Guide Reports:

Merlin is conjuring up another season at Syfy. The drama, which saw its ratings rise in season three, will be back for a fourth season in 2012.

The show — known as The Adventures of Merlin throughout the rest of the world, outside of the U.S. and the United Kingdom — returns with star Colin Morgan as Merlin, as well as Bradley James as Prince Arthur and Angel Coulby as Gwen. Katie McGrath, Anthony Head and Richard Wilson are also back, while John Hurt once again lends his voice to the Great Dragon.

Season four of the show, set in Camelot, follows Merlin as he looks to ensure that Arthur "fulfils his destiny as the Once and Future King." Joining the show in season four are Nathaniel Parker as Agravaine, as well as guest stars Gemma Jones as Cailleach and Phil Davis as a sinister Circus master.

Syfy licenses Merlin (produced by Shine TV) through FremantleMedia Enterprises, which will air the show in the U.K. on BBC One this fall. On Syfy, season three of Merlin averaged 1.9 million viewers, up 12 percent compared to season two.
